Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files a website asks your browser to store. We also use your browser's local storage for the same kind of purpose. This policy covers both, and explains what we use, why, and how you stay in control of it.
Our approach
Nothing that isn't strictly necessary runs until you agree to it. When you first visit, we show you a choice: accept everything, reject non-essential cookies, or pick category by category. Your answer is stored in your browser's local storage — that record itself needs no consent, because without it we couldn't remember your choice.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the button in the footer of any page, or from your account page. Withdrawing consent stops future use but doesn't invalidate anything done beforehand.
Strictly necessary (always on)
These keep the site working and cannot be switched off through our banner:
- Sign-in session. When you create an account or log in, our platform provider sets the credentials needed to keep you signed in between visits and to protect your account.
- Consent record. The stored record of the choice you made on this banner, so we don't ask you again on every page.
- Security. Anything needed to keep the site safe and available, such as rate limiting or protection against abusive traffic.
Analytics (off until you agree)
With your consent we record anonymous usage statistics — which routes get looked at, which pages people leave from, roughly how many visitors we get. This tells us which roads are worth documenting next. It's aggregated reporting about the site, not a profile of you, and it never runs if you reject it.
Marketing (none in use today)
We don't currently set any marketing or advertising cookies. The marketing category exists so that if we ever do — for example to measure whether a promotion worked — your answer is already recorded and respected. Today, leaving it switched off changes nothing.
What we don't do
We don't run advertising networks on this site, we don't build advertising profiles across other websites, and we don't sell or share your data with data brokers.
Third parties
The site is hosted and run on the Base44 platform, which provides our sign-in system, database and usage statistics. That provider processes data on our instructions. If we ever add another third-party service that sets cookies, it will be listed here and gated behind the relevant consent category before it loads.
Managing cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies from its settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break the parts of the site that need them — you won't be able to stay signed in. For more on your rights and how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
Changes and contact
If we change what we use cookies for, we'll update this page and ask for your consent again where the law requires it. Questions, or want to withdraw consent? Email hello@example.com.
