Choose your navigation app

Tap the app you already use — or start with OsmAnd, the free one we recommend.

2

Download the GPX

Download the GPX file from the route page. This file contains the route we've created, including the roads and turns that make up the ride.

Import it into OsmAnd

OsmAnd — step by step

  1. 1Install OsmAnd — it's free on Google Play and the App Store.
  2. 2Download the GPX from the route page.
  3. 3Open the downloaded file on your phone: find it in Files or Downloads, tap it, choose OsmAnd and confirm the import.
  4. 4Your route is now one of OsmAnd's tracks: open Menu → My Places → Tracks and it sits at the top of the list.
  5. 5Open the track: tap the three-dot menu beside it (Android) or long-press it (iPhone), then choose Show on map.
  6. 6Start following it: use the navigation action from that same track menu, or tap the navigation button on the map and pick the track. On Android you can also reach it through Menu → Navigation → Settings → Follow track.
  7. 7Set Point of the track to navigate to Start of the track so OsmAnd leads you to the beginning of the ride, then tap Start. On iPhone this setting is labelled Navigate to.
  8. 8Check the line OsmAnd draws against our route preview before you set off.

Our file is a recorded track — a Geometry track in OsmAnd's terms — so OsmAnd follows the line you can see and does not provide street names or lane prompts. The Attach to the roads option fits the line to the road network and adds those prompts, but it rebuilds the geometry, so the roads can change. Leave it off to follow our route exactly. If you do turn it on, check the result against the route page.

Free, with no subscription needed to import a GPX and follow it.

Check before you ride

Always check the imported route against our route map before setting off. Navigation apps can recalculate GPX files using their own map data and routing algorithms, which can occasionally change the roads used.
